When I was 12 years old, I discovered what it meant to be transgender. I explored the idea a little then, but didn’t fully start transitioning until I was 15.

I was in the midst of discovering I was a lesbian too, so I decided that I was a straight trans guy. I’d always felt like my body wasn’t mine; like we were two separate entities. This probably stems from how tall I am (5’11”) and the bullying because of it.

I started testosterone when I was 18. Within the year I was on it, I attempted to go off several times. However, my best friend at the time, who was also a trans man, would always somehow pressure me into staying on T.

Eventually, that friend left my life, and I discovered myself. I stopped testosterone not too long ago, and I finally feel free.

I’ve finally come to terms with my true identity as a butch lesbian. It wasn’t an easy road, but it was so worth it.
